Orange-tip

95.00

This striking butterfly is found in flowering meadows, bogs, woodland clearings and mature gardens. The male Orange-tip is very colourful showing those bring orange tips to the wings, from which the species is named. Females are white with black tips and spots on their wings. The flying time for Orange-tips is from early April into early July. Their principal source of nectar comes from the Cuckooflower, which is what this beautiful male Orange-tip was feeding on when photographed in a meadow in Co. Laois in May 2018.
