Mediterranean Gull
€95.00
Gulls might not feature on many people’s list of favourite bird species however, personally, a full summer-plumaged adult Mediterranean Gull is one of the most colourful birds of an Irish summer. They are also a spectacularly successful species, extending their breeding range in the past 25 years northwards across Europe from their more southern origins (as their name suggests). Once a real Irish rarity, they are now breeding at some Irish gull colonies. In some autumns and winters, they can number in their hundreds at some locations as birds disperse from breeding grounds in Europe. This superb individual was photographed at Sandycove, Co. Dublin in March 2011.
