Holly Blue

95.00

This beautiful, bright blue butterfly is found in woodlands, hedgerows, park and mature gardens right across the country. Holly Blues, as their name suggests, are attracted to Holly trees as well as many other plants such as ivy and brambles. The first generation of Holly Blues are on the wing from late March into early June with a second generation of butterflies flying from mid-July to the end of August. Their underwings are pale, chalky blue with black spots. This Holly Blue was feeding on brambles when photographed at Knocksink Wood, Co. Wicklow in June 2018.
