I am privileged to be part of the Mooney Goes Wild show on RTE Radio1. In over 15 years of broadcasting I have done countless live broadcasts and reports, as well as meeting and speaking with some wonderful people.
One of the highlights in my broadcasting career was doing the ‘live webcam’ of our nesting birds in Áras an Uachtaráin, the residence of the president of Ireland. Being able to enjoy the unique bird life of these wonderful grounds was a real treat as was meeting President Mary MacAleese, who took time off her busy schedule to chat with me about the nesting Blue Tits in the walled garden.
I have also been lucky to be invited to work on various TV documentaries including Wild Journeys in which I followed the lives and journeys of Swallows from Ireland to Africa.
Swallows was also the subject of a radio documentary I made for ‘RTE’s Documentary on One’ series. I recorded the lives and the people involved in Swallows both in Ireland and South Africa. Listen to The Swallow from Egg to Africa
While birds have always been my main subjects of my broadcasts, I jumped at an opportunity to make a radio documentary about Wolves, a species that has fascinated me since childhood. I followed the lives and history of wolves in Ireland, met with some of the world’s wolf experts in Ireland and Germany, before travelling into Yellowstone to encounter wolves for myself. Listen to Wolf - Spirit of the Wild
It was an experience I will never forget.
